If you want to make your Samsung Galaxy phone last longer between charges, the Light performance profile can help. This feature reduces processing power slightly to prioritize battery life and cooling efficiency, while still providing smooth performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging or watching videos. You can enable this option in Device care to make your phone more energy efficient, and combine it with tools like Optimize now to keep your device running at its best.

Light mode helps your Samsung Galaxy phone use less power during everyday tasks. When this feature is enabled, your phone slightly reduces its maximum processing speed to limit heat generation and improve battery efficiency. This can help your device stay cooler and last longer between charges while still providing smooth performance for activities like browsing, messaging and watching videos.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the options and tap Device care.

Step 2. Scroll through the options and tap Performance profile.

Step 3. Tap Light to reduce power usage during everyday tasks.

Note: The Light performance profile does not affect game performance.

You can quickly improve your phone’s performance using the Optimize now feature in Device care. This tool automatically checks your device and closes background apps, clears memory, and helps keep your Galaxy phone running smoothly.

Step 1. Open Settings.

Step 2. Scroll through the options and tap Device care.

Step 3. Tap Optimize now to close background apps and free up memory.

Note: The optimization process is automatic and may take a few seconds to complete.
