How to set up and manage a Samsung Account

This is a guide on how to set up and manage a Samsung Account. A Samsung Account enables you to keep your Samsung devices tracked and synced, gives you access to Samsung Pay and gets you news and discounts.

Please read our guide on how to recover your details if:

  • If you already have a Samsung Account but cannot login
  • If you no longer have access to your phone number linked to two-step verification. 

Please note: It takes two weeks to change your phone number – this is a security precaution set up by Samsung in order to protect your Account.

1 Open Settings > Tap Accounts and backup

3 Tap Add Account

4 Tap Samsung account

5 Tap Forgot password or don’t have an account? > Tap Create account > Select your age

6 Read the Terms and Conditions > Tap Agree

7 Enter your email address, choose a password, enter your first and last name and date of birth. Tap Next > Enter your phone number and follow the SMS verification process
8 Verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to you via email > Tap Verification complete

9 Your Samsung Account is now set up on your mobile device

Once you have set up your Samsung account on your phone, you will be automatically logged in on that device. You can also log into your Samsung account on your computer by following the instructions below.

1 Open the Samsung Account homepage > Click Sign in

2 Enter your email address and password and click Sign in

3 Read the terms and conditions > Tap Agree

4 Enter the two-step verification code sent to your phone

Please note: If you no longer have access to the phone number registered to your Samsung Account, please read our guide.

“Verify it’s you” screen.

To remove a Samsung Account from your device, you need to know the password. If you have forgotten the password, first reset the password online, then log in and remove the account by following the instructions below.

If you can't access the email address linked to your Samsung Account, you will need to perform a factory reset using the buttons on your device.

1 Go to Settings > Tap Accounts and backup

3 Choose the account you would like to remove

4 Tap Remove account

6 Tap Sign out

7 Enter your Samsung account password and tap OK

1 Log in to your Samsung Account > Click on your account name

3 Click Delete Account

4 Click to agree to the conditions > Click Delete account

There are two ways to change your Samsung Account email or user ID. Please select one:

Via Settings (mobile device)

1 Go to Settings > Tap Accounts and backup

2 Tap Manage accounts

3 Choose the account you would like to change the email address for

4 Tap My profile

6 Tap Email

7 Tap Change

8 Enter your new email address > Tap Change

9 Verify this change using the code sent to your phone

Via the Samsung Account website (desktop)

1 Log in to your Samsung Account > Click Profile

3 Click Email ID

4 Enter your new email address and click Change

5 Your email address is now updated

If you can access the phone number linked to your Samsung Account, and want to update it, please follow the steps below to change your registered phone number using two-step verification.

If you no longer have access to the phone number registererd to your Samsung Account you need to reset it. Follow our guide here to complete a phone number reset. Please note it takes two weeks to change your phone number – this is a security precaution set up by Samsung in order to protect your Account.

6 Tap Two-step verification > Enter your password and tap OK

7 Under “Verification methods”, tap Text message

8 Tap Add

9 Enter your phone number > Tap Send code

10 Enter the code in the space provided > Tap Verify

Follow the steps below if you know your password and would like to change it. If you have forgotten your password or Samsung ID, please see the next section “Reset password”.

3 Tap the account for which you’d like to change the password

4 Tap My profile

6 Tap Password > Enter your current password and your new password > Tap Next

Please note: Changing your password will sign you out of your account on all your devices.

Follow the steps below if you have forgotten your password:

1 Open the Samsung Account homepage > Click Sign in

2 Click Forgot password?

4 Enter your new password and retype to confirm > Click Next
