How do I send a Text Message on the Galaxy S26?

Use the Google Messages app on your Galaxy S26 to send and receive text messages with friends, family and contacts. This guide will show you how to create a new conversation, send a message and view your chat history.

1 Open the Messages app

2 Create a new conversation
Create a new conversation
3 Type in a number or contact name then tap on Done
Type in a number or contact
4 Select the RCS Message bar
Tap on message bar
5 Once you have typed in your text message tap on the Send button
Tap on send button
6 Your sent and received messages will appear within the conversation thread
Viewing conversation thread
1 Open the Messages app
Open Messages app
2 Long press an existing text message you would like to delete
Long press message
3 Tap on Delete
Tap on Delete
4 Then select Move to Bin
Tap on Move to Bin

Please Note: Chats will be permanently deleted after 30 days. If you do not restore the deleted chat before then, you will no longer be able to view this conversation.

2 Open an existing text message conversation

3 Tap on the + button
Tap on Plus icon
4 Tap on Gallery
Tap on Gallery
5 Select the Photo/Video you would like to send then tap on Done
Select picture then tap on Done
6 Type a message in the message bar then send off your message
Send message
7 Once sent you will be able to view your photo and text within the conversation thread
